The Mountain Goats caught me by surprise with the release of last year's "Heretic Pride", not alone for the superb music but as well as the delightful lyrics about mythical creatures, imaginary cults, slasher films and pulp fiction novelists, so my anticipation is quite high for their newest release called "The Life Of The World To Come By".For this new release, singer-songwriter John Darnielle worked with his familiar crowd, but also enlisted some friends to help out, such as Jon Wurster (Superchunk) and Owen Palett (Arcade Fire/Final Fantasy), as well as that girl from St. Vincent and apparently 2 backing vocalists who haven't worked with the band in over a decade. Sounds like fun! No pre-orders from 4AD yet, but already online at Rough Trade
