The Notwist - Come In 7"

The Notwist are an indie band who rely heavily on electronics, and definitely one of the better German bands around. For their newest 7" they managed to attract none other than Grizzly Bear to do a remix of their new track "Come In". Pre-order this limited 7" from Norman.

Sufjan Stevens & Osso - Run Rabbit Run 2xLP

Yet another Sufjan Stevens record, let's call him the Aidan Baker of folk/indie from now on, okay? So, back in 2001 Sufjan Stevens released his sophomore album "Enjoy Your Rabbit" which was heavy on the electronics. Years passed and he made some new friends, one of whom was called Bryce Dessner who most of us know of his band The National. Mr Dessner suggested that it might be cool to rerecord "Enjoy Your Rabbit", but this time around have it done by Osso, a string quartet who also played on "Illinois". So, they did. "Run Rabbit Run" is the result. I haven't heard it yet, but it sounds interesting to say the least.

Tortoise - Beacons of Ancestorship Remixes Eye / Mark Ernestus 12"

Supposed to come out today, but not yet available to order online yet at Thrill Jockey is the follow up the release of their first new studio album in five years. Like many remix editions from the past, Tortoise now return with a two song remix 12" of songs from "Beacons of Ancestorship". Side A features none other than Eye from Boredoms doing a remix of the album's opening track "High Class Slim Came Floatin' In". Side AA features the legendary dub/version master Mark Ernestus of Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound doing a Version of the track "Gigantes".

Pressed in an edition of 1,500 copies for the world and cut at 45rpm this 12" is sure to sell out instantly (as did the vinyl edition of Beacons).

The 12" is presented in a proper LP jacket and features black and white photography from Andrew Paynter. Andrew's photograhy was also featured on the Beacons of Ancestorship jacket and he was behind the incredible video for the song "Prepare Your Coffin".

So, I guess, all we can do is check Thrill Jockey daily for this 12" to surface.
